The other side of the desert - Mt. Charleston

Charleston Peak, known as Mount Charleston, is the highest mountain in Nevada with 11.916 ft.

Visitors and residents from mostly Las Vegas coming, use it to have a good time there. The mountain is snowcapped more than a half year, and can be seen from the Strip in Downtown Vegas.

Nearly 200 camp sides and over 150 picnic areas can be found in this area.

The State of Nevada issues license plates with a Mt. Charleston in the background. The sales of the plate supports the natural environment.

It's a popular destination for hiking trips, because you will get a great panorama viems from the Sierra Nevada, Death Valley and Las Vegas. The south Loop Trail and North Loop Trail are well maintains loops. But a hike can be excruciating if you out of shape.

A great start point for a hiking day is the Mount Charleston Lodge. Cute little houses, build out of wood, can be rent to sleep there.

The beautiful, cozy restaurant burned down in 2021. The owner plans to rebuild the place, but it will need a lot of time.
